Ian Randall is a Systems Analyst and a member of the DHS (Data Handling System) team at the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) based in the United Kingdom.

Ian’s most recent work includes deploying two large IBM TS4500 Tape Libraries in production with IBM TS1160 tape drives. Currently ECMWF is the capacity leader for HPSS holding 451PB in a single namespace and spanning 312 million files. ECMWF’s current challenge is moving its Data Centre to Bologna, Italy in 2020/2021. Which will include moving the large data archive of meteorological data.
