Fred began a 21-year career with StorageTek as the first systems engineer and concluded as corporate vice president of Strategic Planning and Marketing. In 1998, Fred Moore founded Horison Information Strategies in Boulder, Colorado, a data storage industry analyst and consulting firm that specializes in keynote speaking, executive briefings, marketing strategy, and business development for end-users and storage hardware and software suppliers. Fred served as Editor of Storage for Computer Technology Review magazine and has written numerous books, articles, research reports and webcasts for the storage industry.
He is a 1989 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award and a 2004 recipient of the Arts and Science Scholar-In-Residence Award at the University of Missouri, Columbia where he received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in computer applications in physical geography.
Chief Technology Officer
Matt Starr is the Chief Technology Officer at Spectra Logic. Matt brings more than 24 years of technology experience to his role. As CTO, Matt is responsible for helping to define Spectra’s technology roadmap and execute on Spectra’s technology strategy. As the company’s executive voice of the market, Matt leads Spectra’s efforts in high-performance computing, private cloud and other vertical markets, and currently directs Spectra’s Federal and APAC sales efforts.
His work experience includes management roles in service, hardware design, software development, operating systems and electronic design. Matt previously served as the lead engineering architect for the design and production of Spectra’s family of enterprise-class tape libraries. Under Matt’s direction, Spectra Logic secured more than 50 patents, establishing the company as an innovative technology leader in the data storage industry.
Peter Faulhaber is president of FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc., a world leader of innovative data protection products and solutions that enable organizations to cost-effectively manage exponential data growth. As president, he is responsible for overseeing the strategy, manufacturing, sales and marketing for Fujifilm, including the development and implementation of a competitive and profitable strategy for both North and South America regions. Peter joined Fujifilm in 2004 as Vice President, Business Development and OEM Sales, where he oversaw sales to all major OEM partners and was later promoted to Senior Vice President.
Peter has more than 23 years of experience in the data storage industry. Before joining Fujifilm, Peter was the Group Vice President for EMTEC Magnetic, GmbH in Germany where he was responsible for the worldwide professional business of all optical and magnetic data storage products. Prior to that, Peter worked as the Controller for BASF, Germany.
He has also been active in several industry trade associations including: Active Archive Alliance, where he is Chairman of the Board; AFCOM; the Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA); the Linear Tape-Open Consortium (LTO); the European Data Media Manufacturing Association (EMA); and the Tape Storage Council.
Faulhaber received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Kaiserslautern in Kaiserslautern, Germany and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken, Germany.
